Resurfacing of roads in Bellville and Brackenfell

21 October 2025

Yesterday, 20 October 2025, the City of Cape Town commenced with road resurfacing work along Old Oak Road (northbound) between Old Paarl Road and Suikerbossie Street in Oakglen, Bellville and along Old Paarl Road (eastbound) between the R300 and Paradys Street in Brackenfell. The work will be done between 09:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday. Weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays, the roadworks will be completed by Friday, 12 December 2025.

The resurfacing works will include the following:

  • Resurfacing of the existing surfacing with hot mix asphalt.
  • The removal and replacement of old isolated base patches.
  • Replacing damaged manholes, kerbs and sidewalks.
  • The reinstatement of all road markings removed during the process.

Only one lane will be open to traffic in each direction during construction times. Road users are encouraged to consider using alternative routes while this important road resurfacing work is under way on parts of Old Paarl Road in Brackenfell and Oakglen.

‘I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and cooperation during the course of these roadworks. The City’s Roads Infrastructure Management team is working hard to keep Cape Town moving on good quality roads. This regular maintenance work ensures that we are able to prolong the longevity of our road network and keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
